Andrej’s Marble Angel at the Imperfect Space Exhibition in Skopje – October 2024

Andrej will participate in the Imperfect Space 2024 exhibition with a single sculpture named simply “The Angel.” Having received the first prize in 2021, Andrej’s artwork will not enter the award competition. The exhibition will be held in October 2024, in the

 in Skopje, under the title “Contemplation: Christian symbols in the contemporary visual arts.”

Andrej’s white Angel embodies the image of the soul transformed into divine light. The sculpture is composed of three forms-in-one: girl – wing – waterdrop.

The girl is at the forefront, looking upward, with long, flowing hair and with arms gently relaxed at her side. With a posture of utter abandon, the girl’s face is turned, it seems, toward some invisible light coming from above. The sculpture appears to defy gravity: it rises as if already above and beyond earthly affairs.

Discreetly hidden within the shape are a great feathered wing and waterdrops that gently trickle down along the white marble surface. The three intertwined forms relate to a series of symbols and archetypes: the girl – heart, soul, innocence; the wing – bird, spirit, Holy Spirit; and, the water – Arche-Soul, source, cleansing. The material in which the sculpture is carved adds a fourth dimension to the white light of the soul. In Mitevski’s “Angel,” the elevated soul, carried on wings of purity, is reflected in the light of the marble.

Скулптурата „Ангел“ на Андреј Митевски е отелотворение на душата преобразена во небесна светлина.

Фигурата содржи три форми во едно: девојка - крило - капка.

Најизразен облик има девојката, со кренато лице и долга коса, и со раце опуштени крај телото. Во положба на целосно себе-предавање, лицето на девојката е завртено, се чини, кон невидлива светлина која одозгора паѓа на неа. Скулптурата како да и‘ пркоси на гравитацијата: се издига угоре ко веќе да е воздигната над земните нешта.

Дискретно скриени во формата се крилото со видливи пердуви, како и капки вода што бавно се излеваат во белиот мермер.

Трите сплетени форми упатуваат на низа симболи и архетипи: девојката - срце, душа, невиност: крилото - птица, дух, Свет Дух; и водата - пра-душа, извор, очистување.

Материјалот во кој што е изработена скулптурата додава и четврта димензија на белата светлина на душата. Во „Ангелот“ на Митевски, душата вознесена на чисти крила се озарува во светлоста на мермерот.
